About us

Astra started off life back in May 1999 as 'FANS DIRECT', a ceiling fan distributor in Radcliffe, Manchester working from a small shopfront.

After a year heating products were introduced and another adjacent room was rented to accomodate growth, but it didnt take long to outgrow the small shopfront and a move to a small industrial unit in Pilsworth, Bury followed in 2000.

In 2002 electrical accessories were added so more space was required, a bigger additional unit was taken in Pilsworth and the original used for bulk storage.

In 2003 FANS DIRECT became ASTRA and the formation of a new limited comany, because we were now selling more than just fans. The same year saw the launch onto the internet and the company going from strength to strength.

In Late 2005 a move to our present 6600sqft facility in Lowercroft, Bury came and the introduction of lighting products. 9 Years on and still in the hands of the same family ownership, we look forward to serving the trade and public with our original principles of 'Good products, Good choice and Good value for money'.

In May 2009 we look forward to celebrating our 10th birthday and also have plans for more new products and innovations.
